Fort Laurens: Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Rededication

Join the Ohio History Connection, the Zoar Community Association, the Ohio National Guard, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and state officials for a ceremony to rededicate the Tomb of the Unknown Patriot of the American Revolution at Fort Laurens, Ohio’s only Revolutionary War fort. A wreath-laying ceremony will be included.

The Tomb, which commemorates the 23 American soldiers buried at Fort Laurens while it was in operation from 1778 to 1779, has been the subject of an Ohio History Connection renovation project. Improvements include a new monument, masonry repairs, and landscaping enhancements.

Plan to visit the museum and grounds before or after the ceremony.
