Salute to Pioneers

Celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence with a special program honoring two Revolutionary War patriots laid to rest at Reily Township’s Indian Creek Pioneer Church. Founded in the early 1800s by Baptist settlers, the church and its adjacent cemetery, Butler County’s first public burial ground, provide a meaningful setting to reflect on our nation’s beginnings and local roots.

Historian Brad Spurlock of the Smith Library of Regional History will explore the connection between national and local history through the lives and military service of Thomas Boone, a cousin of Daniel Boone, and Heman Adams.

The program will also include the planting of an Ohio Heritage Tree, followed by light refreshments. No registration is required, and the program is free and open to the public.
