Native American History Canoe Paddle
The Maumee River is a primary life source to communities of the present and past. Join Wood County Parks staff with a special co-leader, community and communications specialist and Cherokee Nation member Jessie Walton-Summers, on this paddle around the islands. Well share the rivers significance to Native Americans who thrived in the area for generations and recall stories of peace and conflict. Significant landmarks and wildlife will be highlighted as we make our way down the Maumee River. In remembrance of the 250th birthday of the United States, this program series showcases the history of Wood County and as well as boosting the community spirit through outdoor activities and events!
