Each summer, the heart of downtown Logan, Ohio, transforms into a vibrant celebration of one of America’s most unexpected musical icons—the washboard. As the proud home of the Columbus Washboard Company, the nation’s only remaining washboard manufacturer, Logan honors this beloved instrument with a lively, family-friendly festival unlike any other.
Rooted in the creative spirit of rural America in the mid-1800s, the washboard originally became a source of entertainment when instruments were scarce, and ingenuity was essential. Over time, its distinctive, rhythmic rasp evolved into a cultural staple—contributing to jug-band traditions, energizing Appalachian gatherings, and later becoming the heartbeat of Cajun music across the Bayou.
Today, that legacy thrives in the Hocking Hills during Ohio’s Most Unique Music Festival—where visitors can enjoy toe‑tapping performances, hands-on art, and unforgettable small-town hospitality.
