Americans in Motion – rotating exhibit

Throughout the year, Wright Library will showcase America’s history of movement and transportation – and the inventors and innovators behind the progress – through rotating exhibits and engagement activities for kids K-5 and families.

March: “The Transportation Revolution” (1826-1875) – visitors will learn about America’s triumphs, such as steamboats and railways, and its tragedies, including the Trail of Tears and Underground Railroad.

mid-April through May: “Gem City Flies & Drives” (1876-1925) – The American landscape is changing. From Dayton’s investment in motor car companies, Charles Kettering’s inventions, and the Wright Brothers impact on flight and the bicycle culture, everyone is motoring and moving. Interact with a Wright Brothers Tinker Lab complete with Clixo Magnetic Building Toys.

June/July: “All-American Road Trip” (1926-1975)

August/September: “Electric Vehicles” (1976-2025)

October/November: “The Future of Transportation” (2026+)
