AMERICA250-OHIO – A Chicken in Every Pot? Food and Culinary Culture in the Great Depression

Food was important to the Americans living through the Great Depression. For many, it was more expensive and more elusive than it once was. For most, however, the economic conditions thrust upon them radically altered traditional ingredients and recipes. In this tenth installment of the Great Depression Lecture Series, we will explore the changing nature of the American culinary landscape throughout the 1930s. In doing so, we will see many differences but also many striking similarities to our modern diets. This is a Wood County Park District lead event, in partnership with the Wood County Museum.
