Join America 250-Ohio and Passion Works Studio for a spectacular, vibrant celebration of community, history, and creative expression at the annual Honey for the Heart Parade.
In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, this year’s parade shines a special spotlight on Ohio’s rich spirit of collaboration and inclusivity. Honey for the Heart is a world-class, grassroots event that brings together thousands of community members, students, and visitors to fill the streets of Uptown Athens with joy, giant puppets, and spectacular handmade costumes. Made entirely from recycled and repurposed materials, these larger-than-life creations represent the resiliency, ingenuity, and shared stories of our region.
Directly following the parade, participants and viewers may immediately merge into the street festivities and live music stages of Uptown Athens for the annual Athens Halloween Block Party.
How to Get Involved:
- Be Part of the Parade: The parade is open to everyone! Arrive at the Central Venue between 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM on October 31 to borrow a giant puppet or a brilliant costume, then march with us at 5:00 PM.
- Community Puppet-Building Workshops: Come behind the scenes! Help us construct this year’s giant puppets and outfits. Workshops are free, family-friendly, and open to all skill levels. They run weekdays from October 6 to October 23 at the Central Venue.
Come celebrate 250 years of American community spirit through the uniquely colorful lens of Southeast Ohio!
