Nurses Making History – Greater Dayton Edition
This is our 4th year of hosting a social/educational event for area nurses as the start of Nurses Week. In recognition of the America250 commemoration, this year’s theme is
“Nurses Making History: Greater Dayton Edition.”
The event highlights the long tradition of nursing’s contribution to community health and culminates with recognition of local nurses nominated by their peers for the impact they are making today. The tone is intentionally civic and community-focused.
As in past years, this gathering is designed to be:
Independent of any employer or health system
Free of recruiting, job marketing, or commercial vendors
Accessible and affordable
Focused on recognition, professional connection, and community appreciation
We have learned that many bedside nurses avoid events that feel like recruiting or institutional oversight, so maintaining a neutral, noncommercial environment is essential to creating a space where working nurses feel comfortable attending.
Because this year’s theme aligns closely with public health history and community health impact, we are honored to have Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County recognized as a community partner.
The evening will commence with a taco buffet $ social hour, and culminate with a recognition of the local nurse stories, and a storytelling panel.
