Join Director of Education Ally Carlson for an in-depth look at the 23rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry, the Civil War regiment that included both William McKinley and Rutherford B. Hayes. The men of the 23rd fought in some of the largest and most significant battles of the war, forming bonds that would influence their lives—and the nation—long after the fighting ended.
As part of the America 250 in Ohio November theme of “Ohio Serves,” this program highlights the service, leadership, and legacy of a regiment that gave rise to two future Presidents of the United States. Discover how their shared wartime experiences shaped their character, political careers, and enduring impact on American history.
