“Good News” The Curtain Rises at Weathervane is a pop-up gallery experience celebrates the very first production performed at the playhouse with costumes and props from the story set on a college campus in the roaring 20s.
From humble beginnings to a lasting cultural landmark, Weathervane Playhouse has been shaping Ohio’s theatrical landscape for more than half a century. Founded on July 8, 1969, in a barn in Heath, Ohio, the theater opened with the aptly titled musical Good News! signaling the start of what would become the longest-running professional summer stock theater in the state. That first production marked more than an opening night—it ignited a deep and enduring bond with the Licking County community.
