SUMMARY:The Columbus Historical Society Summer Open House Series at the Historic Harrison House – July 3, 2026
DESCRIPTION:This event is an every Friday recurring event until September 4th, 2026. The Columbus Historical Society (CHS) will host an open house at the Harrison House, 570 West Broad Street, every Friday from Noon to 3 p.m. through September 4 as part of the America250-Ohio celebration of our nation’s 250th anniversary.\nAt 1 p.m. on each Friday, a CHS speaker will give a talk on the circa 1807 house, including a history of the historic Franklinton neighborhood that was founded by Lucas Sullivant in 1797 and preceded the birth of Columbus by 15 years. The presentation will examine General William Henry Harrison’s possible use of the house as a headquarters during the War of 1812.\nDuring all open house hours, CHS docents will be available to answer questions about those topics and others pertaining to the pioneer history of Franklinton and Columbus. Visitors will be able to view artifacts, paintings and documents from that time period. Plus, visitors will also be able to see the 1822 Land Office built by Lucas Sullivant where deeds were given to the first pioneer settlers.\nFor more information, please contact The Columbus Historical Society at info@columbushistory.org; 614-224-0822 or visit: columbushistory.org.
