SUMMARY:Black History of Knox County Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit on Black History of Knox County will be on view in Kenyon College’s Chalmers Library from January 7th, 2026 – March 4th, 2026. Located on the first floor of the library, the exhibit is in the Bulmash Exhibition Hall. The Building is generally open to the public 8am-6pm on weekdays, and 12pm-4pm on weekends. The exhibition is free and open to the public.\nAbout the exhibit:\nKnox County, Ohio has a prodigious black history that is often under-represented or entirely disregarded in many of our modern displays and discussions. This history frequently intersects with that of Kenyon College; significant historical figures from America’s history—including Langston Hughes, Frederick Douglass, and Maya Angelou—have walked through our halls or visited Mount Vernon. Explore their impact, as well as the impact of Knox County’s part in the Underground Railroad and 19th and 20th century Black History in this exhibit. Up until March 2026, Black History of Knox County highlights and celebrates Kenyon College’s contributions to the diverse history of our county.\nLearn more: https://library.kenyon.edu/about-the-library/exhibit-spaces/ ( https://library.kenyon.edu/about-the-library/exhibit-spaces/ )\n
